I'm Oli.
I was born in France 34 years ago, far from the ocean. I never imagined I would end up anywhere near it until I came across scuba diving at 23. It totally grabbed my interest, and within 2 years, I became a scuba diving instructor. Since then, I've explored the underwater world with over 5000 dives across 4 continents and 18 countries. From the icy waters of Iceland to encountering bull sharks in Fiji, exploring cenotes in Mexico, swimming with mantas in the Maldives, and watching humpbacks in the Dominican Republic, I've always fell in love for the marine life I've encountered. My desire to share the beauty I've witnessed led me to underwater photography. Inspired by documentaries from David Attenborough, Yann Artus-Bertrand, Laurent Ballesta, and Ron Fricke, I sharpenned my skills capturing thousands of images while working as a diving instructor.
Deepening skills and passion
Transitioning into a professional underwater photographer role on a scuba diving liveaboard in the Caribbean was a dream come true.
I then started my own operation in Fiji, on an island named Barefoot Kuata, managing a photo/video operation where we create lasting memories for our guests diving with bull sharks. In the meantime, I'm also collaborating on various video projects linked to marine conservation and assisting marine biologists in the field with data collection.
Apart from that, I am always on the lookout for new adventures, eager to learn more, and deeply committed to marine conservation initiatives.
My sharks teacher
Spending nearly a year on Barefoot Kuata island has deepened my love for marine life, particularly sharks. It's truly a blessing to capture the beauty of these majestic creatures through my daily photography. Despite once fearing them like many others, I've transformed that fear into genuine admiration. Playing a role in reshaping society's perception of sharks has infused my photography with a profound sense of purpose. I credit the sharks for elevating my work to new heights, and I am forever grateful to them for that.
